Judge denies motion to dismiss in 2003 Fitchburg slaying

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — A judge has denied a motion to dismiss a murder charge against a Lynn man accused in the fatal shooting of a Fitchburg man more than a decade ago.

Tony Ancrum is awaiting trial in Worcester Superior Court on a first-degree murder charge stemming from the Sept. 2, 2003 shooting death of 23-year-old Christian Perez. Ancrum was indicted last year and ordered held without bail after pleading not guilty.

Ancrum and three others were arrested after state police stopped them in Harvard shortly after Perez was killed. Investigators said three loaded guns and cocaine were found in the vehicle.

The Telegram & Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1KRShw9 ) the judge on Monday denied a motion to dismiss saying the grand jury reasonably concluded that Ancrum knowingly participated in an armed robbery of Perez.
