David G. Hasslinger

David G. Hasslinger, 91, of Watertown, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at noon at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Groth officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Entombment will take place at Glenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be directed to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church’s Sanctuary Project or Rainbow Hospice.

David George Hasslinger was born April 9, 1927, in Waukesha County, the son of George and Clara (nee Krause) Hasslinger. David attended St. Paul’s Grade School in Oconomowoc and Oconomowoc High School, graduating in 1947. He was a dairy farmer and owned Hasslinger Realty. He married the former Ruth Maron on July 30, 1950, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Ruth passed away in 1994. He later married the former Marian Shaller on Oct. 28, 1995, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Marian passed away in 2011. David served on the board of education at St. Paul’s in Oconomowoc. He was also a treasurer at Maple Street School. David was an elder and usher at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and was a past president of the Jefferson County Board of Realtors. He enjoyed traveling and gardening. Most of all, David loved spending time with his family.

David is survived by his children, Joe (Judy) Hasslinger of Watertown, Sue Rennhack of Lake Mills, Kathy (Steve) Purtell of Watertown, Rose (Steve) Zaborek of Watertown and Barb (Chad) Christian of Reeseville; stepchildren, Mark (Jackie) Schaller, Pat (Norbert) Novak, Greg (Debbie) Shaller, Jean (Dan) Zimbric, Perry (Dawn) Shaller; 12 grandchildren, 12 stepgrandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly (George) Meyer of Plymouth; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Hasslinger of Oconomowoc; special friend, Marie Pankow; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

David was further preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harvey and George; brother John in infancy; and sister, Frances (Milton) Morris.

The family would like to acknowledge the Rainbow Hospice facility in Johnson Creek for their dedication and care for David.
