Nevada’s Harris MWC player of week for 2nd time this season
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Nevada junior Jalen Harris has been named the Mountain West Conference basketball player of the week for the second time this season after he averaged more than 23 points with no turnovers in a pair of victories over UNLV and New Mexico.
Harris scored a game-high 28 points with six rebounds and six assists in Nevada’s 86-72 win over intrastate rival UNLV Wednesday night. He made 8-of-17 field goals and 9-of-11 free-throw attempts.
He scored 19 points in Nevada’s 96-74 win over New Mexico, the 600th career victory for Nevada Coach Steve Alford in his first year with the Wolf Pack. Harris added five rebounds and a game-high seven assists in that game Saturday while making 7-of-17 field goals 4-of-6 free throws.
He’s leading Nevada and ranks second in the league in scoring with 18.9 points per game. He’s averaging 6.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.
