Music Masters Series at OC to feature Texas Tech pianist

Odessa College invites the public to the 2017 Music Masters Series fall event featuring William Westney, pianist and artistin-residence at Texas Tech University.

The evening performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Jack Rodgers Auditorium in the Jack Rodgers Fine Arts Building. The public is invited and admission is free.

Earlier that same day from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Westney also will lead a master class for college and high school students.

Westney is an internationally noted educator, conference presenter, and author.

At the Geneva International Competition, he was the top piano prizewinner and appeared in European television broadcasts and as a soloist with major orchestras including l’Orchestre do la Suisse Romenda and the Houston, San Antonio, and New Haven Symphonies. He has been honored with many teaching awards, including the Yale School of Music Alumni Association’s prestigious “Certificate of Merit,” for his distinctive and innovative contributions to the teaching of musical performance.
