FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) _ A church van carrying children to a pool party crashed into a tractor-trailer Wednesday, killing an 11-year-old girl and injuring at least six others, police said.

The van from the First Christian Church in Warsaw was transporting 11 children, ages 10 and 13, and one adult when the collision occurred at an intersection on U.S. 24, about 10 miles east of Fort Wayne.

Three children were hospitalized in serious condition and two were listed as fair. The van’s 30-year-old driver was in stable condition.

There’s a two-way stop sign at the intersection where the accident occurred but it wasn’t immediately clear who was at fault. The accident was under investigation, said Allen County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Victor Hopkins.
