Timberwolves fans celebrate playoff victory

November 25, 2018 GMT

SPRING VALLEY — Spring Valley High School’s football fans began celebrating long before Friday afternoon’s football game with Capital ended.

Who could blame them, as the No. 2 Timberwolves routed the third-seeded Cougars 56-14 in a Class AAA playoff semifinal game at the Wolves’ Den?

Fans rang cowbells early and often as Spring Valley jumped to a 28-7 lead and rolled to a victory that sends it to the state championship game against No. 1 Martinsburg (13-0) at noon Dec. 1 at Wheeling Island Stadium. The Timberwolves have lost to the Bulldogs in each of the past two state title contests, but fans anticipate a triumph this time, as many were on phones booking hotel rooms after Saturday’s game.
