PD: Man’s defective brake light led to drug possession arrest
MILFORD — A defective brake light led cops to find drugs in a Bridgeport man’s car late last month, police said.
Joseph Spain, 33, of Read Street, was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana and defective brake light.
On June 28, officers conducting anti-crime patrol tried to pull over a car for an equipment violation. During the stop, officers developed probable cause to search the car and to arrest Spain.
He is accused of being in possession of an undisclosed quantity of heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana packaged for sale.
Further investigation showed that state police Troop G had an active arrest warrant for Spain’s arrest. There were no further details regarding the warrant from state police.
Spain was released on a promise to appear and is expected in court on July 24.
