Moo-ving post from U of M
ST. PAUL — The University of Minnesota’s Department of Animal Science posted exciting news on its Facebook page on Oct. 25.
Here’s the post:
“Something pretty rare (and awesome) happened at the University of Minnesota this week!
“One of our cows in the dairy barn had triplets! Not only are they triplets, they are all heifer calves and all are alive!
“Both mom and babies are doing great!
“Triplets are born about 1 in 100,000, and the rate of survival of triplets is 80 percent. Having all 3 be female is about a 1 in 8 chance of the 1 in 100,000.”
