Madison365, Ho-Chunk Nation to host ‘leadership summit’
Madison365, a nonprofit news organization, and the Ho-Chunk Nation are bringing together influential leaders of color from across Wisconsin for panel discussions and presentations on a range of topics.
The Wisconsin Leadership Summit will take place at the Ho-Chunk Gaming and Convention Center in Baraboo on Oct. 18 and 19.
Leaders, pulled from Madison365’s Black Power and Si Se Puede lists and the Ho-Chunk Nation, will discuss education, nonprofit leadership, incarceration and other topics.
In addition, the summit will feature a gala dinner, community art show, and networking and professional development opportunities.
“We want people to understand that the Ho-Chunk has a lot to offer in terms of community building and professional development,” said Ho-Chunk Nation spokesman Collin Price.
“There’s a huge part of our people that are in corporate settings and this is a great opportunity to offer networking opportunities and highlight their stories,” Price said.
According to Madison365 publisher and CEO Henry Sanders, the summit is a chance for people of color to talk about issues that pertain to their communities in Wisconsin.
“We realized we can have a summit where we have real conversations about the issues we face and more importantly the solutions we have to retain and attract more people of color to Wisconsin,” he said. “We are really excited about this.”
Honorees from Madison365’s Black Power and Si Se Puede lists will be invited free of charge. The general public is also invited to attend, with a registration cost of $200.
