The Toronto Raptors are finalizing a deal to acquire San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard in a trade package that includes All-Star DeMar DeRozan, league sources told ESPN. An agreement in principle could be reached as soon as today, league sources said. Leonard and DeRozan are both aware that an agreement could be imminent, and neither is expressing enthusiasm for the deal, league sources said. Toronto will make the deal with a determination that he can sell Leonard on re-signing with the Raptors next summer in free agency, sources said. Leonard has been clear that he plans to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency next summer.

USA Today is reporting that the Baltimore Orioles were expected to trade All-Star shortstop Manny Machado to the Los Angeles Dodgers today, barring a last-minute snag. Machado says he hasn’t heard anything from his agent and he refused to answer a hypothetical question about going to Los Angeles. Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp says he’s good friends with Machado but hasn’t heard anything, although he added that the All-Star would bring excitement to LA. Machado is scheduled to become a free agent after the season. He’s hitting .315 with 24 home runs and 65 RBIs.

The American League picked up its sixth straight All-Star Game victory last night by hitting five home runs in an 8-6, ten-inning decision over the National League. The AL wasted a 5-2 lead before Alex Bregman and George Springer opened the tenth inning with homers. Jean Segura belted a three-run shot for the American League, which leads the all-time series 44-43-2.

The NFL has reinstated Dallas Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory, who was suspended all of last season over multiple violations of the league’s substance-abuse policy. The league said yesterday that the former Nebraska Cornhusker can join the Cowboys at training camp in California next week and will be eligible for games as long as he continues to meet the terms of his reinstatement. Gregory was suspended just before Dallas lost a playoff game to Green Bay during the 2016 season. He had been banned 14 games that year and played in the final two regular-season games before the latest suspension, his third. The Cowboys drafted Gregory late in the second round in 2015. He slid in the draft after testing positive for marijuana during the NFL combine that year.
