STRATHAM, N.H. (AP) — A man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a woman at the headquarters of Timberland, the outdoor apparel company, New Hampshire authorities said Monday.

Robert Pavao, 20, of Berwick, Maine, was accused of assaulting the woman and causing her death Sunday, the attorney general’s office said.

He waived arraignment and pleaded not guilty on Monday, Seacoastonline.com reported. He was being held without bail. It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer who could speak on his behalf. He worked as a security guard at the building, the news outlet reported.

He and the victim did not know each other, according to court records.

An autopsy was scheduled for the 46-year-old woman, who was found dead at the the Timberland building in an industrial park on Sunday.

Authorities did not identify her. In a statement, Timberland said the woman worked for the Stratham-based company.

“It is with extreme sadness that we share news of the loss of a beloved member of the Timberland community,” the statement said, adding that a suspect was in custody and that the company was cooperating with authorities. “We extend our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones as they process this senseless tragedy.”
