Vikings Sign Ex-Dolphins Coordinator to Coach Linebackers

February 7, 1996 GMT

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) _ The Minnesota Vikings hired former Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Tom Olivadotti as linebackers coach.

Olivadotti lost his job when Don Shula stepped down and Jimmy Johnson took over as Dolphins head coach.

``I’m excited to be part of the staff and, hopefully, I’ll contribute something,″ Olivadotti, 50, said Tuesday. ``Getting exposed to someone else’s system will be very positive, and I’m looking forward to learning new ways to do things.″

Olivadotti replaces Foge Fazio, who was promoted to defensive coordinator after Tony Dungy left the Vikings to take over as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last month.
