Comment being taken on water quality permit
The state Department of Ecology is taking public comment on a water quality permit being sought by Andeavor Logistics.
The company, which was formerly Tesoro Logistics, offloads and stores crude oil from rail cars, loads and stores oil products, and operates a wharf, according to an Ecology fact sheet.
Andeavor Logistics needs the permit to discharge wastewater into a treatment system operated by the Marathon Petroleum refinery in Anacortes, which formerly operated as Andeavor, according to Ecology.
The proposed permit includes requirements to monitor the wastewater flow and a weekly check for oil and grease at the crude railcar off-loading facility, submit an updated spill plan and submit discharge monitoring reports electronically, according to Ecology.
Public comment on the permit will be taken through Jan. 16.
Commets are being taken online at ac.ecology.commentinput.com/?id=3Cx2S and by mail to Mark Dirkx, Industrial Section, P.O. Box 47600, Olympia, 98504-7600.
