Boyfriend facing 3 counts of rape
A Fort Wayne man was taken into custody after being charged Friday with three counts of rape, sexual battery, two counts of domestic battery, one resulting in moderate bodily injury, and strangulation.
Court documents said Marcus Tournier Govan, 38, of the 1100 block of Hamilton Avenue, arrived at his girlfriend’s home Thursday morning about 3:30 a.m. to speak about their child.
After she refused to have sex with him, he grabbed her by the back of the neck with one hand and pulled her clothing off, according to court documents.
“Don’t tell me what to do, (expletive)!” Govan reportedly said. Govan then forced himself on her and strangled her. At one point, Govan repeatedly hit her after she said she got “one good punch” to his face, court documents said.
Govan grabbed her cellphone when she tried to call for help, threw it on the ground and stomped on it, destroying it, court documents said. The victim was able to get away from him and ran to a neighbor’s home, where she called for help.
Govan denied he was at the home, but his alibi didn’t prove credible, court documents said.
He was also charged with a misdemeanor count of interfering with the reporting of a crime.
He was being held at the Allen County Jail in lieu of $40,750 bail. He has a court hearing Thursday.
