SYDNEY (AP) — The Central Coast Mariners beat Adelaide United 2-0 Sunday to ensure that first place in the A-League will be decided on the final weekend of the regular season.

The Mariners needed three points to stay within range of the leading Western Sydney Wanderers, who have 54 points to the Mariners' 51.

Earlier Sunday, the defending champion Brisbane Roar beat the Melbourne Heart 2-0 to stay in contention for a top-six playoff spot, ending the Heart's chances.

Western Sydney, Central Coast, Melbourne Victory and Adelaide have clinched playoff spots, with Brisbane, the Alessandro Del Piero-led Sydney FC, Perth and Newcastle set to play for the final two places next weekend.

Del Piero scored Sydney FC's goal in a 1-1 draw Saturday with Western Sydney.
