Cards ride Harkins

NORWALK — The Greenwich Cardinals rode a torrid shooting start to a 72-68 win over previously unbeaten Brien McMahon on Friday night at Kehoe-King Gymnasium.

Conor Harkins poured in 25 points to lead the effort, including a six-for-six effort from the foul line in the final two minutes as the Cardinals held off a furious McMahon charge.

Robert Clark added 15 points while Pat McTiernan chipped in with 10 as Greenwich improved to 3-4.

Greenwich opened the lead by shooting well over 50 percent, turning a 15-12 first-quarter lead into a 38-16 lead at halftime.l

The Cardinals led by as much as 23 in the third quarter before McMahon came storming back.

McMahon, which was led by Matt Saint Louis’ 23 points and Eric Day’s 19, slipped to 4-1 .
