Longmont Police Dog Hurt on Tuesday Released from Veterinarian

April 14, 2018 GMT

A Longmont police dog hurt on Tuesday night has been released from the veterinarian.

Longmont Deputy Police Chief Jeff Satur said in an email that Rudi was released from Aspen Meadows Veterinary Specialists on Friday morning.

Rudi had emergency surgery where two feet of his intestines were removed, and he received a blood transfusion. He will likely remain in the hospital in critical condition for the next couple of days.

Rudi injured himself in late March while tracking a suspect in a crime after jumping over a fence and tearing open his stomach.

A GoFundMe account set up for Rudi has raised more than $12,000.
