RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina State quarterback Brandon Mitchell will start against No. 3 Florida State after missing five games with a broken left foot.

The Arkansas graduate transfer has been out since the opener. He led the Wolfpack (3-3, 0-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) to touchdowns on the first two drives before leaving after the third series with the injury, which required surgery.

First-year Wolfpack coach Dave Doeren has hoped Mitchell would be ready for the Syracuse game on Oct. 12, but he wasn't quite ready to return. Doeren said Monday that Mitchell progressed steadily through the team's bye week and is ready to go against the Seminoles (6-0, 3-0), though he said "there's obviously going to be rust" considering Mitchell has seen only 15 snaps this season.
