Comic/ventriloquist Jeff Dunham performs at Hartford’s XL Center
Comedian and ventriloquist Jeff Dunham is on the road again with his infamous sidekicks. Of course the hyperactive and annoying Peanut is among them, along with Achmed, the incompetent suicide bomber who is always yelling, “Silence! I keel you!”
Thankfully, Achmed never follows through on that threat, because Dunham’s legion of fans wouldn’t stand for it. The comedy sensation brings his “Perfectly Unbalanced” worldwide tour to Hartford for a Sunday show on Sunday, April 9.
Dunham’s shows are packed with new surprises, as well as old favorites, like diatribes from Walter — the character who is a grumpy retiree, has no filter and is beloved for his sarcasm.
Dunham got into ventriloquism when he was 8. After making folks laugh for the past 46 years, he has sold millions of DVDs and has more than a million subscribers on YouTube. He holds the Guinness World Record for Most Tickets Sold for a Stand-up Comedy Tour, and continues to expand his reach.
This summer, Dunham and his wife, Audrey, will be the hosts of a new show, “Incredible Edible America,” on the Food Network. Viewers will follow along as they visit cities from Atlanta to Los Angeles, examining interesting dishes and meeting the chefs who make them. But it won’t be your standard culinary road trip, because they’ll be joined by some of Dunham’s crazy characters.
XL Center, 1 Civic Center Plaza, Hartford. Sunday, April 9, at 3 p.m. $47.50-$36. 877-522-8499, xlcenter.com
