Oklahoma inmate suspect in theft of 86-year-old woman’s car
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Police in Oklahoma City say a man who walked away from the Oklahoma County Jail is suspected of stealing an 86-year-old woman’s car and running over her hands as he drove away.
Sgt. Gary Knight said Thursday that 23-year-old trustee Paul Joshua Thompson walked away from the jail on Saturday while performing chores around the jail. A short time later, he’s suspected of stealing the woman’s car in a convenience store parking lot.
Police say Thompson asked the woman for a ride before jumping into the driver’s seat and taking off. The woman tried to hold on to the car but fell underneath it, resulting in her hands being run over as the car sped away.
Police took Thompson into custody on Sunday near where the car was stolen.
