Widow of Clementa Pinckney, slain pastor and politician, to speak at Women’s Leadership Council Gala
Jennifer Pinckney will be the keynote speaker during the third annual Women’s Leadership Council Gala, which is scheduled for May 31 at Newberry Hall in Aiken.
The keynote speaker will be Jennifer Pinckney.
She is the widow of Clementa Pinckney, who was killed during a mass shooting at Mother Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston in 2015.
Clementa, who was the church’s senior pastor, was serving as a S.C. senator at the time of his death. He previously was a member of the S.C. House of Representatives.
Jennifer is a graduate of Silver Bluff High School. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of South Carolina in Columbia.
Davia Bunch, Miss South Carolina 2018, will be the Gala’s emcee, and there will be a singing performance by Lisa Tharp-Bernard.
In addition, the Women’s Leadership Council, which is affiliated with the United Way of Aiken County, will award grants to programs that help women and children in Aiken County.
Tickets to the Gala are $50 for individuals and $100 for couples.
