Greater Huntington Symphony performs annual spring concert
HUNTINGTON — The Greater Huntington Symphony performed its annual spring concert Sunday at Spring Valley High School.
The concert was free to attend.
The symphony is composed of high school students, college students, retired band directors and other community members.
Sunday’s selection included “Fanfare” from La Peri-Paul Dukas, “Chant and Jubilo” by Francis McBeth, “March from 1941” by John Williams, “Bullets and Bayonets” by J.P. Sousa and “Sunflower Slow Drag” by Scott Joplin.
The symphony is directed by Tommy Thompson. Guest conductors for Sunday’s performance included Vernon Varnum, Tom Chaffin, Brian Cordle and Christian Thomas.
The performance was televised by Armstrong Cable TV.
