Jack Eichorst waives court hearing, sending child porn case to district court
The son of former Nebraska Athletic Director Shawn Eichorst has waived his Wednesday court appearance, sending his case to district court.
Jack Eichorst, 18, is set for arraignment there April 4.
Police originally arrested Eichorst on suspicion of sexual assault, but prosecutors, after reviewing the case, charged him earlier this month with generating child pornography, a felony punishable by up to four years in prison.
This week, his attorney, Sean Brennan, filed a waiver of preliminary hearing, which was approved Tuesday.
According to court records, the child pornography charge involves videos and images of children depicted in sexual positions and doing sexual acts allegedly found on Jack Eichorst’s phone Nov. 3, after he gave Lincoln police consent to search it.
Brennan has said Eichorst has autism and because of significant developmental disabilities, his level of sophistication and maturity is not that of an 18-year-old.
