Holiday decorating contest begins

The Kankakee County Holiday Decorating Contest, sponsored by Speckman Realty and HomeStar Bank and Financial Services, is underway.

The entry fee is $10, and all proceeds will go to Merchant Street Art Gallery of Artist with Autism. The entry deadline is Nov. 30. Judging will take place the week of Dec. 10.

Cash prizes will be awarded. Entry forms can be picked up at any Homestar Bank or Speckman office, or email Speckmanrealty@yahoo.com. For more information, call Dondi at 815-715-8405.

International luncheon

The Kankakee County Home and Community Education Association will host an international luncheon Thursday at the University Of Illinois Extension, 1650 Commerce Drive in Bourbonnais.

Speakers will be Dennis and Paula Schwark. Registration begins at 10 a.m., and the cost is $15. For more information, call Rita at 815-932-3182.

Limestone library to host events

The Limestone Township Library District, 2701 W. Tower Road in Kankakee, is hosting the following events:

BlueStem Book Club — 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Children in third- to fifth-grade meet each month to discuss a book from the Bluestem Award Nominee list. Bookswill be available at the front desk. This month’s selection is “Funny Bones” by Duncan Tonatiuh.Super-Hero Family Movie Night and Dinner — 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday. Enjoy a night out with the family watching “The Incredibles 2.” This is an after-hours event; register ahead of time.Watercolor Craft with Elana Turrell — 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday. Students in first- to fourth-grade will work with watercolor paints to create a winter scene. Supplies will be provided,and there is no cost for this program.

Kankakee library to host event
