Torrington Volunteer Fire Department called to Sunday morning fire

TORRINGTON — The Torrington Volunteer Fire Department put out a house fire on West C Street early on the morning of Dec. 2.

Chief Lance Petsch said the department were dispatched to the fire around 4:50 a.m. The building was unoccupied at the time.

“When we arrived, there were flames through the roof,” he said. “It looked like it had been going on for a while before we arrived.”

The department remained on-scene until 8:30 a.m. In addition to the fire department, the Torrington Police Department was on scene.

As of the evening of Dec. 4, Petsch said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
