Hospital CEO tapped as New Hampshire health commissioner
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — The head of New Hampshire’s state psychiatric hospital will be nominated Wednesday to become the next commissioner of the Department of Health and Human Services.
Republican Gov. Chris Sununu said he has tapped Lori Shibinette to replace Jeffrey Meyers, who stepped down earlier this month to pursue private sector work.
Shibinette currently serves as chief executive officer at New Hampshire Hospital. A registered nurse, she previously served as deputy commissioner at Health and Human Services and as CEO of the Merrimack County Nursing Home.
“Lori Shibinette’s unmatched operational experience will allow her to hit the ground running,” Sununu said in a statement Tuesday. “Our strong economy has provided New Hampshire with the opportunity to create robust programs that need Lori’s expertise to ensure better outcomes for individuals. Lori is a manager and has the ability to effectively oversee these programs to get the job done.”
A confirmation vote by the Executive Council is expected Jan. 8.
