Opportunity Zones to be explained at event
HUNTINGTON — On Tuesday, April 2, at noon, the Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Huntington Area Development Council (HADCO) will host a luncheon to explain Opportunity Zones, a federal government program that allows investment in specific geographic locations to jumpstart economic opportunities through tax incentives.
The event will be at noon at the St. Mary’s Conference Center, 2849 5th Ave.
Speakers will include Joshua Jarrell with Steptoe & Johnson PLLC and representatives pf U.S. Sens. Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia.
“Opportunity Zones give our region another tool in our economic toolkit to attract investment to West Virginia,” said Bill Bissett, president and CEO of the Huntington Regional Chamber. “After Senator Capito brought U.S. Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina to Huntington, who was the architect of Opportunity Zones, we now have a better understanding of what this program means for our region. It is important that existing and potential investors understand how this program cannot only benefit their portfolio, but also create new jobs and opportunities here at home.”
To reserve a spot at the luncheon, contacting the Huntington Regional Chamber at 304-525-5131 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
