HUNTINGTON — The Huntington Garden Club celebrates its 90th anniversary Monday, May 14.

The Huntington Garden Club has been active over the years, having furnished seven of the 45 West Virginia Garden Club presidents; erected Blue Star Memorial Markers to honor veterans; conducted numerous flower shows; established a garden at the Cabell County Courthouse; donated many of the trees in Ritter Park; helped children learn to garden at the Home and Garden Show; and helped to beautify the City of Huntington over the years.

The West Virginia Garden Club Presidents that came from The Huntington Garden Club are: Mrs. Charles L. Ritter (1935-1937); Miss Virginia Cavendish (1943-1946); Mrs. Andrew L. Kouns (1952-1954); Mrs. Carlton R. Mabley (1961-1963); Mrs. Clifford Fitzwater (1969-1971); Mrs. Marjorie McDonald Hollandsworth (1977-1979); and Mrs. James Ashworth (2009-2011).
