Wyoming animal shelter takes in dozens of seized animals

July 19, 2019

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — A Wyoming animal shelter has welcomed in more than 60 animals after authorities seized them from a Casper residence.

KTWO-AM reports the Metro Animal Shelter is providing temporary housing and care to about 40 dogs, 15 cats and 10 birds since the animals were rescued Wednesday.

The Casper Police Department says it found the animals in squalid conditions after receiving complaints from neighbors.

Authorities say no charges have been filed yet against the woman who is suspected of hoarding the animals at her home.

Officials say the rescued animals are not up for adoption because of the pending investigation.

Shelter staff says residents can help by volunteering their time, donating equipment and adopting from the more than 150 animals that were already at the shelter.
