A bit more on Komets’ trade
The Komets’ haul of Brady Shaw today for Aidan Muir and future considerations looks significant. Even if those futures are a lot, and even if Muir turns into the player most around here believe he’ll be, Shaw was the Orlando Solar Bears’ leading scorer.
So this didn’t make a lot of sense on its surface.
But this nugget had been in a Sunday press release from Orlando and may explain its offload: ”... the Solar Bears have placed forward Brady Shaw on team suspension due to conduct detrimental to the team. The club will issue no further comment.”
I wouldn’t be too quick to freak out; this stuff happens all the time. I would note, for example, Orlando got Mickey Lang a few years back from Fort Wayne, and he became arguably the best player in the league, and the circumstance could have been argued to be the same. The point is: in the ECHL, changes of scenery are necessary and happen all the time and this is a low-risk move for the Komets, who basically gave up their spare forward.
