FBLA students hit regional leadership conference

JOHNSON CREEK -- Students in the Johnson Creek Future Business Leaders of America Chapter recently attended the Regional Leadership Conference in DeForest.

The chapter had the opportunity to attend leadership workshops, listen to keynote speaker Nick Clementi and compete in events.

Clementi talked about what it means to be a good leader and discussed a “30-second elevator pitch” and the importance of an authentic smile. Clementi has owned many businesses and is responsible for bringing many popular toys and games to market.

There were 14 students from Johnson Creek competing at regionals. There were hundreds of students in attendance overall and Johnson Creek students placed in the following categories:

-- Broadcast journalism with Izzy Doherty, Bella Herman, Alyssa Kwarciany in fifth place.

-- Computer problem solving with Garrett Trimborn in fifth place.

-- Cyber security with Joey Barganz in third place.

-- Health care administration with Maryanna Hintz in fourth place.

-- Impromptu speaking with Tyler Vaughn in fifth place.

-- Publication design with Olivia Sykes and Anna Yezzi in fourth place.
