Online sales tax is hike, not windfall -- Ed Hutchins
Sorry, but the State Journal headline about the fortunate $187 million windfall to the state coffers should have been reported as a $187 million tax increase on average Wisconsin residents.
Though I agree internet sales should probably be taxed to level the playing field for brick-and-mortar businesses, sales taxes are the most regressive. Instead, let’s lower the general sales tax rate to prevent this governor, or those to follow, from giving it away for political or patronage reasons.
Just a thought.
