St. Martinville beats Cecilia; LCA bashes Centerville
ST. MARTINVILLE — Treyvion Marshall led four players in double-figures as St. Martinville Senior High beat Cecilia 71-66 Tuesday in a District 5-4A boys’ basketball game.
Marshall scored 21 points, Jalen Mitchell added 18, Demontrae Gardner finished with 14 and Jayvion Mitchell chipped in 12 for the Tigers, who led by 1 point at halftime and outscored the Bulldogs in the second half to improve to 14-17 overall and 3-4 in district.
Jevon Berry had a game-high 32 points in the loss for Cecilia (12-14, 4-3).
St. Martinville plays host to Opelousas Friday night.
Lafayette Christian 73, Centerville 39
LAFAYETTE — Victor Dupre had 18 points and led three other players in double-figures as Lafayette Christian jumped out to an 16-8 first quarter lead and beat Centerville in District 7-A Tuesday.
Javian Howard added 16 points, Greg Williams had 13 points and Kailen Thompson chipped in 13 for LCA, which improved to 19-5 overall and 4-0 in district.
Marquis Strawder had a game-high 23 points in the losing effort for Centerville, which fell to 10-11, 1-2.
The Bulldogs travel to Vermilion Catholic Friday.
ESA 43, Hathaway 41
HATHAWAY — Tucker Arkin led the way with 12 points as ESA beat Hathaway in a District 6-B game Tuesday.
Danny Ahluwalia added 8 points while Keith Simien and Henry Shuffler each had 6 points for the Falcons, who trailed 26-22 at halftime and rallied in the second half for the win in a game that featured 13 lead changes.
Colby Augustine led Hathaway (27-3, 8-1) with 18 points.
ESA (18-16, 6-3) travels to Midland Friday.
