Police: Drunk driver crashed into structures, in possession of drugs
Lake Havasu City Police officers responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident Dec. 16. According to the police report, a car piloted by 20-year-old Havasu resident Cobi J. Ciolino crashed into multiple concrete posts at the intersection of Fremont and Cataract Drives.
Pieces of the vehicle were spread across the roadway, police said, and Ciolino was located at a nearby address.
Ciolino allegedly told officers he was on his way home from a friend’s residence, and started to feel tired.
He told officers he felt something go wrong with his vehicle prior to the crash, the report said.
According to police, Ciolino’s vehicle contained an ignition interlock device, preventing it from being operated while a driver was under the influence of alcohol.
Ciolino allegedly told officers he had smoked marijuana the day before.
Ciolino appeared to be intoxicated at the scene, the report said, and suspected marijuana and pre-scription medication were found during a search of his vehicle.
Ciolino was subjected to a series of field sobriety tests prior to his arrest.
A sample of Ciolino’s blood was taken to test his level of intoxica-tion.
He was charged with felony counts of aggravated DUI, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was also charged with one misdemeanor count of possession of prescription-only drugs.
