FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) _ Bobby Phillips ran for two touchdowns and Steve Pelluer came off the bench to throw two touchdown passes to lead the Frankfurt Galaxy to a 31-7 WLAF victory over the London Monarchs.

Phillips, allocated from the Pittsburgh Steelers, dove over from the 1-yard line on both touchdowns as the Galaxy snapped a three-game losing streak.

Pelluer, who led the team to last year’s World Bowl, had his two TD passes after replacing Chad May in the second quarter.

Pelluer hit Vince Marrow with a 20-yard scoring pass across the middle just after stepping on the field to put the Galaxy up (3-4) 12-0, then Phillips drove across for the two points.

The Monarchs (3-4) cut the lead to 14-7 late in the second quarter when Ron Dickerson scored on a 30-yard run on third-and-short, the longest run from scrimmage against the league’s top defense this season.

But a 21-yard field goal by Ralf Kleinmann with eight seconds to play in the half was followed by a Pelluer scoring pass of 36 yards to Travis Hannah. that put Frankfurt ahead 24-7 with 12:43 remaining in the third quarter.

Phillips’ run with five minutes to go completed the scoring for the Galaxy, who lost Mario Bailey for the season when he broke his arm during the game.

The game was played in front of 30,720.
