MU Game Balls: Marshall at FIU

November 25, 2018 GMT

Offense: Herd offensive line

With the game on the line, Marshall’s offensive front set blocks that allowed running back Brenden Knox to move forward for first downs and ice the game. FIU knew what Marshall was doing, but it came down to execution. The offensive line also did not allow a quarterback sack and FIU had just three tackles for loss.

Defense: LB No. 31 Omari Cobb

Many players could’ve earned this, but Cobb registered Marshall’s lone quarterback sack that ended the Panthers’ first drive. Cobb later added a 25-yard interception return for a touchdown. Cobb, the reigning Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week, set the tone early.

Special teams: DB No. 8 Brandon Drayton

With both teams in the midst of mistakes that foiled scoring attempts, Drayton burst through the line and blocked a Stone Wilson punt and recovered in the end zone for a touchdown that gave the Herd a 21-10 lead. He also had five tackles.
