West Virginia signs forward Oscar Tshiebwe
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — Forward Oscar Tshiebwe has signed a letter-of-intent to play basketball at West Virginia next season.
Coach Bob Huggins announced the signing of the 6-foot-9 Tshiebwe (SHOO’-bway) on Monday.
Huggins says Tshiebwe is an elite rebounder and will give the Mountaineers “a force inside.” He chose West Virginia over Kentucky, Baylor and Illinois.
Tshiebwe is a Congo native and attends Kennedy Catholic High School in Hermitage, Pennsylvania. It’s the same school that produced West Virginia forward Sagaba Konate.
Tshiebwe is the second recruit to sign with the Mountaineers. Guard Miles McBride of Cincinnati signed last week.
