HUNTINGTON — Several Tolsia High School Career Technical Education students recently participated in a career exploration program sponsored by St. Mary’s Hospital Center for Education.

The St. Mary’s Healthcare Academy is held annually and open to tenth and eleventh grade students in the region to get an intensive look at careers in the health care field.

THS was well represented with six students from the Therapeutic Services program at the school, headed by instructor Mrs. Stephanie Justice.

The St. Mary’s Program took place on June 5-6 at the Center for Education located in Huntington.

It gives aspiring health care workers an immersion into the health care field above and beyond what they may learn in their high school programs.

The St. Mary’s Academy consists of a variety of activities and give students a real opportunity to see what the field of health care is all about. The experience is both educational and can motivate students who are interested in pursuing a post-secondary career in the field.

Tolsia CTE Administrator Ric Morrone said, “This is another example of the excellent programming we have at Tolsia High School. The St. Mary’s Academy is a great linkage opportunity for our students as we prepare them to be college and/or career ready. I would like to thanks St. Mary’s Hospital and the Academy as well as our instructor Mrs. Stephanie Justice for giving our students this great experience.”
