Callery, Ajama Invite Winners
ROXBURY -- The Lowell High boys track and field team shined at Saturday’s Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association Invitational at the Reggie Lewis Center.

The Red Raiders crowned a pair of champions in a deep field that attracted teams from all across the state and had several season and personal bests as they continue to build towards next month’s MIAA state championship.
Senior captain Brian Callery continued his fine season with a personal-best shot put toss of 51-11, which was good enough to win the event. Callery is one of the top-ranked and consistent shot putters in all of New England.
Also throwing well in the shot put was senior Ben Kyeremeh, who was 4th with a best of 48-3.
Senior high jumper David Ajama won his 2nd major meet in as many weeks with a school-record-tying jump of 6-8. Ajama was also 9th in the long jump with a best 20-6.25.
Richmond Kwaateng placed 5th in the 55m dash (6.68), junior Sammy Mutiso was 5th in the 55m high hurdles (7.93), senior captain Jadiel Pinales was 5th in the 1000m with a state Division 1 qualifying time of 2:38.44
The Red Raider relays also ran well. In the 4x800m, Lowell was 8th. The foursome of Joeben Jacobs, Kelvin Santana, Ricky Thyne and Juan Giron combined to run 8:29.14. The 4x200m was also 8th. The quartet of Andrews Bonsu, Jalen Dibbles, Mutiso and Franco Recto combined for a time of 1:34.23.
The Lowell High girls competed at the same meet.
The 4x200 relay team of Elizabeth Tighe, Jordan Lamarre, Kimesha Lewis and Casey Mitchell placed 1st in a time of 1:46.71.
Kimesha Lewis took 3rd in the 55m dash (7.34), Ann Nkole was 4th in the shot put (35-7) and Jordan Lamarre was 5th in the 300m (42.66).
The 4x400 relay team of Kalei Sam, Lamarre, Lewis and Mitchell) placed 5th (4:14.52).
