Storms cause damage in northern New England

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Crews are working to remove downed trees and restore power after intense storms wreaked havoc in parts of northern New England.

The heavy winds and rains on Monday evening knocked down trees and power lines in Manchester, New Hampshire, and surrounding towns, Keene, and in western and southern Maine.

Keene’s city manager tells WMUR-TV that about six to eight homes were damaged in the storm.

On Interstate 89 north a large downed tree blocked two lanes, causing a traffic backup.

The strong winds also ripped down a barn in Waitsfield, Vermont.
