Jet’s Front Wheel Collapses During Landing
SALZBURG, Austria (AP) _ The nose-wheel of a chartered Boeing 720 carrying more than 160 Danes to a skiing vacation collapsed on landing Thursday, and the plane slid on its nose to a stop, an airport official said.
Two people were treated at a local hospital for shock.
A total of 167 passengers, all ski tourists from Copenhagen, and a crew of seven were on board the Scandinavian Con-Air charter flight from Copenhagen, airport spokesman Karl Pohl said in a telephone interview.
Pohl said aside from the two passengers taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment of shock, the rest of the tourists continued on to Saalbach, a Salzburg province winter resort.
Damage to the plane was considerable because it slid on its nose to a standstill, Pohl said. He was unable to make an estimate.
