TEWKSBURY -- It wasn’t until early Wednesday morning that Dave Robertson could claim victory in the 19th Middlesex District state representative race.

Unofficial results showed Robertson, the Democratic candidate in the race, earning 9,110 votes. His challengers Pina Prinzivalli, a Republican, and Patricia Meuse, an independent, earned 8,216 votes and 1,570 votes, respectively.

The district encompasses Tewksbury and Wilmington.

Robertson worked in the office of the late Rep. Jim Miceli for 10 years, most recently serving as his legislative aide. Miceli served as state representative from 1977 until his death in April. Robertson said he is ecstatic about the news and grateful for his supporters.

“I would like to thank them for putting their faith in my visions and my plans,” Robertson said. “I look forward to working for everybody regardless of how they felt.”

Prinzivalli texted her congratulations to Robertson Tuesday night, and Meuse stopped by Robertson’s celebration party at the Tewksbury Country Club.

The first item on Robertson’s agenda as state representative is having MassDOT come out to take a look at intersections along Route 38 for future improvements.

“I can’t wait to give back to my home, I really can’t,” Robertson said.
