Leominster Health Fair Next Thursday
LEOMINSTER -- The city’s Health Department will be holding a health fair in the auditorium at City Hall from 5-7 p.m., on Thursday, April 4.
“We want members of the community to have access to information about medical services offered, mental health issues, addiction and recovery, and nutrition and fitness,” said Katrina Courture, a registered nurse with the Health Department.
At the fair, there will be representatives from many of the area’s organizations that provide different types of services and care for individuals and families, she said.
Some of the organizations participating in the fair are Community Health Connections, Reliant Medical Group, Recovery Centers of America, Community HealthLink, Project AIDS, Growing Places, the National Alliance on Mental Illnesss, Walgreens, and a nutritionist from Hannaford Supermarkets.
There will also be a representative from the Police Department there to discuss a relatively new approach to fighting addiction, recovery coaches.
“We want people to know what resources are available so they can be empowered to take care of themselves,” said Couture.
Sixth-graders from the district’s schools, said Couture, will also be displaying artwork created with their message of “What Health Means to Me.”
Couture said winners of the contest will be announced during the fair.
