5-year-old boy airlifted to PMC after father backed over him with truck
MURTAUGH — A 5-year-old Cassia County boy was injured Tuesday when his father backed over him with a truck.
According to a Cassia County Sheriff’s Office report, the sheriff’s office and emergency medical services were called at 8:20 p.m. to 920 W. 200. S. in Murtaugh, which is about 20 miles southeast of Twin Falls.
After emergency medical services arrived, they informed deputies the child was conscious and breathing with a possible leg fracture.
Deputies talked to the boy’s brother who said his little brother tried to climb on the back of his dad’s pickup while he was parking the truck. The boy said they always ride on the truck when their dad gets home, but they get his attention first and he stops the truck to let them get on it.
The boy’s father said he did not see his son on the back of the truck when he started backing into the driveway.
When he stopped the truck, he said, his son was lying on the ground in front of the truck.
The boy was flown to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.
Deputies determined the incident was accidental.
