SA official: ACA enrollment unchanged by ruling, deadline Saturday

December 15, 2018 GMT

A federal judge’s ruling Friday that the Affordable Care Act is unconstitutional does not affect policies that people are signing up for now for next year through the ACA exchange, according to the enrollment co-chairman in San Antonio.

Joe Ibarra, with the EnrollSA coalition, said the deadline for enrolling or re-enrolling in individual ACA health plans is today and people should proceed to sign up.

“Folks should be comfortable that the plans they sign up for will be in effect,” Ibarra said late Friday, shortly after he heard about the judge’s ruling.

Bexar County residents who need personal help with enrollment can go to one of two CentroMed clinics open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today. Appointments can be made by calling 210-977-7997 or through the website enrollsa.com, which has specifics about enrollment. People can also walk in but they might need to wait, Ibarra said.

The clinics are: CentroMed Southside Medical Clinic, 3750 Commercial Ave., and CentroMed Noemi Galvan Eling Clinic, 5542 Walzem Road.

Enrollment is also available online at healthcare.gov and by phone at 1-800-318-2596,

In Bexar County, 26 plans are available to individuals and families from three insurers, almost identical to last year.
