3 WVC Field Hockey Players Get Camp Invites
Three of the area’s top high school field hockey players are making waves on a national scale.
Entering her senior year at Wyoming Seminary, Kelsey Reznick earned an invitation to the December Junior National Team Training Camp, in which she will compete for a coveted spot on the U.S. U-19 national team.
Fellow Blue Knights Hannah Maxwell and Alex Wesneski, who are soon-to-be juniors, earned the same recognition for the U-17 grouping.
According to a news release Monday from USA Field Hockey, Reznick, Maxwell, Wesneski and their peers were selected for the winter tryout thanks to a strong performance at the recent Junior National Camp.
The winter camp — Dec. 19-21 at Spooky Nook Sports in Lancaster County — is the final tryout for the U-17 and U-19 teams.
Reznick, of Drums, is one of 38 U-19 players who made the cut. She is a three-time Citizens’ Voice all-star who scored 16 goals and a team-high 16 assists a year ago. Reznick is verbally committed to play at Duke.
Maxwell and Wesneski, each of Forty Fort, are two of 37 finalists at the U-17 level.
Maxwell is coming off a season in which she scored 17 goals with 11 assists. She is verbally committed to Wake Forest.
Wesneski scored 21 goals with eight assists last year while committing to play at Iowa.
Last year, Sem won the District 2 Class A championship and a silver medal in the PIAA state tournament.
The 2018 WVC season is set to begin Sept. 5 with Sem as a preseason favorite to go far.
