2 injured in East Side collision with building, Madison Fire says
Two people were hurt Wednesday afternoon when the driver of their car swerved to avoid a crash on East Washington Avenue and hit a building.
The crash was reported at about 2:25 p.m. in the 900 block just past Paterson Street, the Madison Fire Department said.
The car was eastbound when another car tried to turn onto South Paterson Street, almost causing a crash between the two cars.
“To avoid a collision, the driver veered to the right, hit a box that controls the traffic lights at the intersection and skimmed the side of a building under renovation,” said spokeswoman Cynthia Schuster.
The car came to a stop under scaffolding.
“Both occupants were able to get out of the vehicle on their own,” Schuster said. “They were treated by paramedics and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”
