Lyon adds France defender Dubois to list of injured players
LYON, France (AP) — Injury-hit Lyon lost another important player for several weeks as international defender Leo Dubois was diagnosed with a lesion on his left knee on Sunday.
The French right-back, who started his international career in June and has won four caps with the World Cup winners, hobbled off the pitch with seven minutes left during Lyon’s 2-1 win at Strasbourg in the French league on Saturday.
The seven-time French champions said Dubois underwent a scan that revealed an injury to his left meniscus ruling him out at least until the end of the year.
Lyon said the exact length of his absence will be determined after he consults with Professeur Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet, a knee specialist who has operated on several high-profile French athletes.
Lyon was already without several crucial injured players including Netherlands forward Memphis Depay and the midfield pair of Houssem Aouar and Thiago Mendes.
