SideTrack: Julian Edelman, Lena Headey, Shellee Mendes and more...

May 25, 2017

MAN ABOUT TOWN: Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman decided to stage a scavenger hunt for fans. He hid signed JE11 merch in different locations throughout downtown Boston — from the Common to the North End — and posted clues that would lead his Instagram followers to the goods. There were three lucky winners who went home with Edel-gear, including shirts and hats. All due respect to “The Catch” master, but this marketing move looks an awful lot like the used Ugg stunt Tom Brady carried out back in December. Seems #11 wants to be just like big brother Brady.

DRACARYS: The latest trailer for the much-anticipated Season 7 of “Game of Thrones” starts with Cersei (Lena Headey) intoning, “Enemies to the east, enemies to the west, enemies to the south, enemies to the north,” though that could be referring to her own dinner table. The teasers are mighty — marching armies of all stripes, sword fights, scenes of mayhem with fire and ice (see what we did there), and yes, there be dragons. Daenarys (Emilia Clarke) looks thisclose to ruling the Seven Kingdoms, maybe, while Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) declares at the end, “The Great War is here.” It finally goes down July 16.

PICTURE PERFECT: If you head to the Museum of African American History on Joy Street, make a point of looking for a very important portrait — taken just this week. The Black Economic Council of Massachusetts celebrated 100 Black Owned Business Leaders of Boston yesterday, when the notables posed for their group photo, to be donated to the MAAH. One of the biz leaders on view: Shellee Mendes, owner of chic Salon Monet on Newbury Street.
