Historical Fun And Games
The Luzerne County Historical Society hosted a game night Friday at the Swetland Homestead in Wyoming.
The event featured indoor and outdoor historical games, including Mah-Jong, ‘Shut the Box,’ croquet, horseshoes and the Victorian favorite of hoop rolling. Attendees were also able to try out period baseball equipment and see how the game evolved.
The Swetland Homestead was built in 1803 by Luke Swetland (1729-1823) and is one of the oldest houses in the Wyoming Valley. Swetland survived being captured following the Battle and Massacre of Wyoming in 1778.
